Within the finals of the Voice Awards 2008 the application Sound Chicken has been awarded the most important German Award for speech technology for "Best Innovation". The Sound chicken has been realized on behalf of debitel AG by MEMICS AG and New.Ego. The Sound Chicken is an innovative combination of a web- and a telephone-application. The user gets the chance to send a personal e-card with a personal picture and with own singing to friends. Several users are able to sing together in a virtual choir and thus send a joint e-card with a personal song to a friend..

The Jury of the Voice Awards 2008 says: "Für die Jury war die gelungene Umsetzung dieser multimodalen Anwendung entscheidend, denn als Innovation macht sie die Konvergenz von Internet und Telephonie erlebbar. Die humorvolle Ansprache des Benutzers, die klare, auf das Wesentliche reduzierte Dialogführung und die gelungenen Wechsel der Sprachausgabe zwischen PC-Lautsprechern und Telefon sowie schließlich das große Potenzial für virale Marketingkampagnen waren wichtige Kriterien, die die Jury beeindruckten."
